Fishing
The Konin Region is a land of picturesque bodies of water: lakes, canals, and fishing spots. In short – a paradise for anglers. This applies to both professional fishermen and those for whom sitting by the water, staring at a float, is a form of relaxation. In the Konin district, there are simply plenty of fish, and what may delight many, it's nearly impossible to leave without a catch and go home empty-handed.
The local waters are rich in various species of freshwater fish. It's impossible to list them all: bream, roach, crucian carp, carp, pike, perch, eel, catfish, bleak, tench, and pike are just some of them. It's worth mentioning that the local lakes are known for encounters with fish giants. For example, Lake Budzisławskie is the kingdom of enormous breams, some weighing up to 6 kg. In the Mąkolno fishery, dozens of fish weighing over 10 kg can be found. The most favorable fishing conditions can be found in lakes such as Mikorzyńsko-Wąsowskie, Pątnowskie, and Licheńskie. The water here doesn't freeze even in winter, which means that fishing enthusiasts, whose frozen fingers and red noses don't scare them, don't have to give up their favorite pastime. Fish are also plentiful in the local canals, which carry warm water.
While there's a good chance of catching fish almost anywhere, it's worth asking local fishermen about the best fishing spots before choosing a location. Perhaps trying your luck at Lake Licheńskie, which was ranked first in the 2009 "Wiadomości Wędkarskie" fishing ranking as a special fishing site? Or maybe at the bends of the Warta River, where it's not difficult to catch a fine pike? The choice is up to the anglers, and we wish them success on the waters of the Konin district.
