Invest in Konin County

Konin County, a "Little Homeland" for over 130,000 hardworking inhabitants of Wielkopolska, is located on the eastern outskirts of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship. It includes 14 communes, with the capital of the sub-region being the city of Konin, home to 74,000 people.

This county is quite unique within Wielkopolska. It is densely populated, with scattered settlements. Nature has endowed the region with a combination of contrasting resources: poor, infertile soils, lignite deposits, and numerous natural water reservoirs. The economy of the county, and the entire Konin sub-region, is currently based on the fuel and energy sector. As a result, Konin Land is often viewed through the lens of open-pit mining and post-mining heaps. However, the evolution of this region is becoming increasingly visible.

The socio-economic processes of recent years, including the pre-accession period and Poland's current membership in the European Union, have led the people of our "Little Homeland" to seek alternative models of microregional development. Konin County is working to initiate processes that focus on strengths previously overshadowed by the fuel and energy industry.

Firstly – the county’s attractive central location, along with its international and domestic road and railway communication routes, is a significant asset. That’s why we say: "Konin County is the shortest way to anywhere in Poland." The areas adjacent to the A2 motorway (located within the communes of Golina, Rzgów, Stare Miasto, and Krzymów) are designated as an accelerated development zone. The land near the motorway junctions in Modła Królewska (exit to National Road No. 25) and Żdżary (exit to National Road No. 72) is especially attractive to investors. These advantages provided the basis for the development and implementation of a new concept. Within the Wielkopolska Logistics Center (WLC), companies engaged in logistics services, warehousing, transportation, and manufacturing are already operating.

Secondly – close to Konin and the accelerated development zone is the Warta-Gopło Water Route, a tourist gem that has been undervalued. The lakes connected by canals create exceptionally favorable conditions for the intensive development of recreational and holiday facilities, including year-round hotels, swimming pools, sports grounds, tennis courts, parking lots, fitness centers, equipment rentals (such as swimming gear, bicycles, light motorcycles), sailing marinas, fishing spots, and cycling paths. Another often-overlooked area for recreational and tourism investment is the reclaimed post-mining land, including slag heaps and affected water reservoirs near the Warta-Gopło Water Route. While visiting these regions, it’s hard to disagree with the saying: "Water, greenery, and sailing – Konin’s showcase." This entire area (within the communes of Ślesin, Kazimierz Biskupi, Kleczew, Kramsk, Skulsk, and Wierzbinek) is part of the so-called "forest-recreation zone" with ecological farming, and it is traversed by National Road No. 25.

Thirdly – another favorable aspect of Konin County is its direct proximity to the city of Konin, which boasts a well-developed administrative and financial infrastructure, a range of business institutions, and a strong higher education system.

By combining all of the factors mentioned above, Konin County presents a very compelling argument for investment. With its central location, it is the shortest route to any place in Poland!
